Diane Drubay's artistic journey experiments with a new type of Sublime under the urge for environmental consciousness. Driven by a deep concern for ecological issues and a desire to reflect the pressing matters of our time through aestheticism.
Her artistic breakthrough sparked in 2012 as she documented the impact of seasons on Claude Monet's garden in Giverny, France. While shaped by man's hand, the garden offers an immersive ode to Nature's awakening and its ever-changing beauty.
Inspired by the transformative power of time on Nature, she gravitates towards isolated landscapes to capture the awe-inspiring beauty and reflect on our place within it. Through fieldwork expeditions to remote locations, she fuels her creative process and explores the mythos and scientific explorations of our Planet. Yet alone, the traces of time and human activity are always pressing.
Between 2013 and 2018, Diane Drubay dedicated herself to a monumental project, tracing stages towards ultimate transcendence through nature. Compiling impressions of the rising and setting sun, she composed a surreal dance of light and shadow through nature collages. This culminated in the creation of "Odyssey," a mesmerizing 23-minute video and cognitive enhancer, offering viewers an authentic and powerful experience.
From 2015 to 2017, Diane Drubay wanted to reach people when they were best able to feel connected to these altered natural landscapes. Multi-sensory stimulations through vivid colors, hypnotic rhythms, and immersive sounds invited viewers to feel closer to a new Sublime. She organized urban screenings in Berlin, in the street, in techno clubs, and in yoga studios. The idea has always been to accompany people through a profound transformation to create a strong relationship with nature. She collaborated with various musicians who composed tracks in reaction to her videos. From this, a record was released in 2017, and live performances were organized internationally.
Since 2019, she has explored natural glitches in Nature and their impact on our perception and collective imagination. Drawing inspiration from 19th-century landscape painting, 1970s science-fiction literature, and 21st-century planetary research, Diane Drubay started crafting visionary narratives that invite viewers to contemplate altered or synthetic landscapes. Through various media and conceptual paradigms, she weaves sci-fi-infused landscapes, urging nature awareness and inspiring positive future stories.
Embracing emerging technologies since 2021, she ventures into 3D models, GIFs, and micro-videos, advocating for responsible and sustainable practices within the art world.
